We are excited to announce that Attorney Marion Pope has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the 2021 Georgia Legal Awards (GLA) by the Daily Report. He is joined by only a handful of other Georgia attorneys who also earned this rare distinction.
To earn the Lifetime Achievement Award, a nominated attorney must have a legal career that is as extensive as it is impressive. Due to the strict qualification requirements to earn this distinction, it is not guaranteed that any attorneys will be given this title during the annual Georgia Legal Awards. We want to take this time to congratulate Attorney Marion Pope and thank all parties who helped make this achievement possible.

As part of his selection for the Lifetime Achievement Award, Marion was interviewed by the Daily Report. In this brief interview, he shared some of the highlights of his career, such as trying 17 murder cases in one year. He shared that he was immensely proud of his three children, two of whom are trial lawyers and the third owns a court-reporting company. To further underline the love that he has for his family, he said that his father was a remarkable source of inspiration and guidance for him growing up.
When asked what advice he would give a new legal professional, Attorney Pope stated clearly and concisely, “Well, to be a trial lawyer, like I was before taking the bench, you’ve got to love it. It’s a job that demands a good work ethic.” No matter how much someone knows about the law and legalities, they have to truly believe in what they are doing to attain a lifetime of success. This is a lesson that anyone can pick up, no matter their career or passions.
