Recent community involvement
Hasty Pope was the proud team sponsor of the J.A. Walters Family YMCA 1st Annual Golf Tournament supporting the Partners of Youth Campaign on June 5, 2009, at the Chattahoochee Golf Course in Gainesville, Georgia. This campaign raises money to provide financial assistance to children and seniors so they may participate in YMCA programs.
On September 28, 2009, Hasty Pope LLP was a breakfast sponsor of the Hall County Sheriff's Office Second Annual Golf Tournament. The tournament raised $17,000 for Georgia Sheriffs' Youth Homes, an organization that provides supervised camps and residences for hundreds of dependent, neglected, and abused children. Hasty Pope was a tee sponsor of the 18th Annual Medical Center Openhosted by The Medical Center Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization associated with Northeast Georgia Health System, Inc. in Gainesville, Georgia. The annual golf tournament was held at Chicopee Woods Golf Course on October 1, 2009, with all proceeds going to theBoys & Girls Clubs of Hall County. More specifically, the proceeds were used to assist the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County build an outdoor recreation complex for the new Joseph Walters Club to be located next to Lyman Hall Elementary School.
Hasty Pope proudly sponsored the 16th Annual Tennis Pro-Am at Chattahoochee Country Club on October 23-24, 2009. For the second year in a row, Hasty Pope LLP was a Silver Sponsor for the event. All proceeds from the tournament went to Northeast Georgia Speech Center and Glory Hope & Life.
In addition to protecting the legal rights of victims throughout Georgia, our personal injury attorneys are committed to causes that benefit Canton, Gainesville, and Atlanta residents. Some of the local causes we support include:
- Kids Chance—Kids Chance is a foundation that gives financial support to the children of injured or killed workers.
- The YMCA—Jonathan Pope is a former member of the Cherokee County YMCA Board of Directors.
- Civil Justice PAC—Our partners are champion members of this organization, which was created to ensure that our elected officials are reminded each year to protect the rights of the injured.
Ongoing community service
Jonathan Pope is a fellow of the Lawyers Foundation of Georgia, a nonprofit public service organization whose goal is to enhance the system of justice, support lawyers, and assist the community.
Tom Pope dedicates a portion of his practice to helping injured workers who have workers compensation claims. Each year, he plays a vital role in the Kids Chance fundraising program, which provides financial and educational assistance for children of injured workers.
Judge Pope attends First Baptist Church in Canton, where he has been a Sunday school teacher and a deacon for more than 30 years. During this time, he has served as chairman of the Board of Deacons for two terms, as well as on the finance committee and the personnel committee.
